How to Redeem Sweeps Coins for a Prize: Playthrough, Minimums, Mail-In Requests and Tax
To redeem Sweeps Coins you play them through (once at most brands, three times at Stake.us), build an eligible balance up to the operator's minimum, pass identity verification, and request a prize: a gift card from about 10 to 50 Sweeps Coins, or cash from 50 to 100. One Sweeps Coin usually exchanges for $1 of prize. Gold Coins can never be redeemed. In the US the prize is taxable income, and from 2026 an operator files Form 1099-MISC once a year's prizes reach $2,000.
Published October 30, 2026 — High 5 Casino's Official Rules (version 45, dated October 29, 2026) and the IRS's Topic 419 page read October 30; the other operators' figures are as last read from their terms on September 13, 2026, because their rules pages could not be read from our location on October 30. We did not make redemptions ourselves.
The five steps from Sweeps Coins to a prize
- Make the coins eligible. Sweeps Coins usually must be played before they count. High 5's rules say coins collected for free "must be used at least once" in a Sweeps Coins game and let the operator require more; Stake.us applies 3x to Stake Cash.
- Reach the minimum. Gift cards and other non-cash prizes unlock first, cash later. The table below gives each brand's floors.
- Verify your identity. High 5's rules list photo ID, a biometric face scan, proof of address and Social Security number validation among the checks it may run. Do this before you need the money, not on the day of an exit deadline.
- Choose the prize rail. Bank transfer, e-wallet (Skrill, Trustly, PayPal at some brands), gift cards (often through Prizeout), or cryptocurrency at Stake.us.
- Wait for processing. High 5's rules warn a redemption can take up to ten days, longer while identity checks run.
Redemption minimums and playthrough by brand
| Brand | Playthrough | Gift card / non-cash | Cash | Rails named in the terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stake.us | 3x | About 10 SC | Crypto only: nominal 5 SC, about 40 to 50 SC per coin in practice | BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, XRP, TRX and others; gift cards. No bank or e-wallet |
| McLuck | 1x | 10 SC | 75 SC | Bank transfer, Skrill, gift cards |
| Pulsz | 1x | 10 to 25 SC (in-app figure decides) | 100 SC | Bank, e-wallet, gift cards |
| Chumba | 1x | About 10 SC | 100 SC | Bank transfer, Skrill; gift cards through Prizeout |
| Wow Vegas | 1x | 25 SC | 100 SC | Skrill, Trustly; gift cards through Prizeout |
| RealPrize | 1x | 45 SC | 100 SC | Bank, Skrill; no withdrawal fee |
| High 5 Casino | At least 1x | 50 SC | 100 SC | Bank, e-wallet, gift cards |
| Modo.us | 1x | Not stated | 50 SC | Bank, e-wallet |
| Funrize | 1x | 2,500 PE ($25) | 10,000 PE ($100) | Trustly, PayPal; Prizeout gift cards |
Two caps sit on top of the minimums. Funrize limits redemptions from Promotional Entries that came only from free sources to $25 per account. Stake.us and High 5 both cap Florida players at $5,000 of redemptions per period: Stake.us per day (terms as read September 13, 2026), High 5 per Sweepstakes Entry Period, with any excess deferred to the next period (rules version 45).
How long redemptions take, by the operators' own account
These are the times the operators publish, not measurements. Stake.us quotes crypto redemptions within 24 hours. McLuck's terms give 24 to 48 hours for gift cards and 3 to 10 business days for bank cash. Pulsz gives about 24 hours for gift cards and up to about five days for cash. RealPrize describes a couple of days for cash. High 5's rules say a redemption may take up to ten days, and that prizes of $2,000 or more in a calendar year may take longer because of extra security checks, for which it requires your Social Security number. Wow Vegas advertises same-day processing only for its top loyalty tier. A first redemption is usually the slowest, because that is when identity verification runs.
Why redemptions get refused
Most refusals trace back to a rule the player broke, often without knowing it. The common grounds in operator rules and complaint reporting:
- More than one account. High 5's signup form states that redemptions are void for players with multiple accounts. This includes a second account in the same household.
- Name or payment mismatch. A card not in your name, or an account name that differs from your ID, stops a redemption until fixed.
- Playing from an excluded state. Eligibility follows where you are and where you live. WHSV's August 7, 2026 report on Crown Coins lists play from a non-permitted state among the reasons players were given.
- Coins not yet eligible. Coins not played through do not count toward the minimum.
- Automated play. High 5's rules ban automated or systematic methods of play to win or redeem Sweeps Coins.
The mail-in request, step by step
The alternative method of entry (AMOE) is the free, purchase-free route that keeps a sweepstakes legal. Each operator writes its own procedure, and it changes between versions of the rules, so follow the version current when you post. High 5's version 45 (October 29, 2026) is the most detailed we could read:
- Log in, open "My Account" and select "Get Mail-In Code". The code is shown for a limited time, is valid for one use by your account only, and expires 60 days after it is displayed.
- Use a 4 by 6 inch postcard or plain paper cut to that size. In the top left, handwrite the details the rules list, which must match the name on your account and ID; in the top right, the date you prepared it.
- Below that, handwrite the statement "I wish to receive Sweeps Coins to participate in Sweeps Play on High 5 Casino."
- Put one card in a standard white, unfolded, unlined #10 envelope, posted from the state of your verified address. Handwrite your return address on the front, the operator's address from the rules, and your Mail-In Code on the back, mid-centre.
- Use one colour of ink throughout. Typed, printed, multi-colour, illegible or outsourced cards are void.
Each valid card adds three Sweeps Coins, which then follow the normal playthrough. That makes the arithmetic slow but simple: 17 valid cards reach High 5's 50 SC non-cash minimum and 34 reach its 100 SC cash minimum, each in its own stamped envelope. Other operators' rules describe a postal route too, with their own amounts and limits; as their rules pages could not be read on October 30, 2026, check the current version in your account before posting. A brand that hides or omits a mail-in route is not running a genuine no-purchase sweepstakes.
Tax on redeemed Sweeps Coins
A redeemed prize is income. The IRS's Topic 419 page (reviewed September 24, 2026, read October 30, 2026) says gambling winnings are fully taxable and must be reported on your return even when no information form was issued, and counts the fair market value of prizes as income. Whether a given sweepstakes redemption is best reported as a gambling winning or as a prize is a question for a tax professional, since it changes how losses can be set against it.
The paperwork threshold changed this year. Section 70433 of Public Law 119-21 raised the Form 1099-MISC reporting threshold for prizes and awards from $600 to $2,000 for payments made after December 31, 2025, with inflation indexing from 2027. That matches High 5's rule that redemptions reaching $2,000 in a calendar year require your Social Security number. Below the threshold you may get no form, but the income is still reportable. Keep your own record of every redemption and every purchase, across all brands. This is general information, not tax advice.
If your state is about to close
Operators that leave a state publish a final redemption date, and it is usually two weeks to a month after play ends. High 5 gave Indiana and Iowa players until June 30, 2026; RealPrize gave Delaware players until September 21, 2026. Start the redemption the day an exit is announced, because a first redemption includes identity checks. Oklahoma's ban takes effect November 1, 2026: the brand-by-brand dates are in the Oklahoma section of the ban tracker.
Frequently asked questions
What is the lowest Sweeps Coin redemption minimum?
On operator terms as read September 13, 2026, gift cards start at 10 SC at McLuck and about 10 SC at Chumba and Stake.us; Pulsz lists 10 to 25 SC. Cash starts at 50 SC at Modo.us and 75 SC at McLuck, and is 100 SC at Chumba, Pulsz, RealPrize and Wow Vegas. High 5's rules of October 29, 2026 set 50 SC for a non-cash prize and 100 SC for cash.
Can I redeem Gold Coins?
No. Gold Coins, and each brand's renamed equivalent such as WOW Coins, Game Coins or Tournament Coins, are play money with no cash value. Only Sweeps Coins, Stake Cash or Funrize's Promotional Entries can be redeemed, and only once they are eligible and above the minimum.
How long does a Sweeps Coin redemption take?
By the operators' own published times: Stake.us quotes crypto within 24 hours, McLuck 24 to 48 hours for gift cards and 3 to 10 business days for bank cash, Pulsz up to about five days for cash, and High 5's rules up to ten days. The first redemption is usually the slowest because identity checks run then.
How do I get free Sweeps Coins by mail?
Follow the mail-in section of the operator's current sweepstakes rules. At High 5 (rules version 45, October 29, 2026) you generate a Mail-In Code in your account, handwrite a 4 by 6 inch request card with the required details and statement, post one card per envelope from your home state, and receive three Sweeps Coins per valid card.
Do I have to pay tax on Sweeps Coins I redeem?
Yes, a redeemed prize is taxable income, and the IRS says winnings must be reported even without a form. From 2026 an operator files Form 1099-MISC when your prizes reach $2,000 in a year, up from $600, under section 70433 of Public Law 119-21. This is general information, not tax advice.
What happens to my Sweeps Coins if my state bans sweepstakes casinos?
The operator announces a final redemption date, typically two weeks to a month after play ends. Redeem straight away; balances left after the deadline are generally forfeited unless a regulator intervenes, as New York did with VGW.
